An impaired Ohio County woman has been jailed after hitting a deputy’s cruiser during a traffic stop.
The incident began when an Ohio County deputy observed a vehicle “unable to maintain their lane and crossing far into the oncoming lane” on Hwy 62 east on Sunday night at approximately 9:30.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop as the driver, 19-year-old Alexis Dunn, of Centertown, put the vehicle into reverse and struck the front of the deputy’s cruiser, according to the sheriff’s office. Upon deputies making contact with Dunn, she displayed slurred speech and emitted an odor of alcohol.
Police also observed several empty prescription medication bottles on the floorboard.
Dunn was arrested and charged with second-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, DUI (non-alcohol) and first-degree criminal mischief as well as reckless driving.
She was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center on a $2,500 cash bond.
