An Ohio County woman is facing felony charges after driving drunk with two small children in the vehicle.
The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested 25-year-old Samara Ferguson, of McHenry, after they initially observed her speeding. As a deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop on Ferguson, she sped up, police said, before eventually pulling over.
Upon police making contact with Ferguson, she smelled of alcohol and had open alcohol containers in the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies also observed a toddler and infant in the vehicle.
Ferguson was arrested and charged with DUI (aggravating circumstances), two counts of felony wanton endangerment, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, speeding at least 26 mph over the limit, and reckless driving along with non-moving violations.
She was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center. She is no longer listed as an inmate.
