A tractor-trailer crashed early Tuesday morning in the 3600 block of Morgantown Road just outside of Caneyville.
Tuesday morning at approximately 6:30, the Caneyville and Leitchfield Fire Departments, Grayson County Chief Deputy Sonny Poteet and Sgt. Jason Luedke as well as Grayson County Emergency Management responded to the crash in the 3600 block of Morgantown Road (Hwy 79).
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found the southbound semi, carrying a full load of crushed aluminum cans, left the roadway before traveling over an embankment and flipping onto its side.
One of the truck’s saddle tanks began leaking fuel into a nearby stream, according to Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall, as firefighters mitigated the leak by placing buffers to dam the stream. The EPA then cleaned the fuel from the stream.
The driver initially refused treatment but later began feeling ill and was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center.
