Leitchfield PD, K-9 Zeus collaborate to bust convicted meth trafficker on drug charges

A Leitchfield woman previously convicted of drug trafficking has been arrested on multiple drug charges.

Kanisha A. Cockriel, 35, was arrested on Saturday afternoon at approximately 2:00 after a traffic stop on South English Street conducted by Leitchfield Police Department Officer Eugene Cain.

Upon making contact with Cockriel, Cain requested Grayson County Deputy Sean Fentress and K-9 Officer Zeus, which alerted on the vehicle during a walk-around.

During a search of Cockriel’s Pontiac Grand Prix, police located multiple grams of methamphetamine, marijuana and a syringe along with other drug paraphernalia, according to the arrest citation.

Police also found several Klonopin pills hidden on her person.

Cockriel was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, pills), tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and license to be in possession. She was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

LPD Sgt. Keith Harrell assisted at the scene.

Cockriel, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, was previously convicted in Grayson County for trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.

She is on probation until March 2029.
