A 20-year-old Leitchfield man has been killed and a Leitchfield woman seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident in Hardin County.
The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash Thursday afternoon at approximately 1:15 in the 15000 block of Hardinsburg Road (Hwy 86) near the intersection of Smallwood Lane not far from the Hardin/Breckinridge County line.
The investigation showed that a 2008 Ford Focus, being driven by 20-year-old Andrew Miller, of Leitchfield, was traveling east when the vehicle partially left the roadway in a curve. Miller, according to police, overcorrected and crossed into the westbound lane where the Ford struck a 2008 Chrysler Town & County, being driven by 56-year-old Lorrie Phelps, also of Leitchfield.
Miller, who police said was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner’s Office.
Phelps, who suffered serious injuries, was transported to Baptist Health Hardin.
