The Grayson County football team cleaned up in the first round of postseason awards by the Greater Louisville Football Coaches Association (GLFCA).

The Cougars, who won their second straight district championship, finished the regular season with an 8-2 record and a 3-1 mark in district play. In two years in their current district, they went a combined 7-1.

On Monday, the GLFCA named Kadin Hanshaw (RB), Wynsten Woosley (OL), Jett Hawkins (CB), and Greyson Chaffins (S) as members of the first team list.

Evan Hasty (K), Caleb Whobrey (OL), and Ethan Mudd (FB) were designated as honorable mention.

“First, for the kids I think it’s an awesome personal achievement to be recognized by other coaches for their hard work and the way they play the game,” head coach Bryan Jones said. “For the program, I think it’s more validation for the things we got going on her at Grayson County. The expectation is growing the standard is rising and the fact that we have players receiving these awards is showing that!”

Grayson County will open the 2024 Class 5A playoffs at home on Friday evening against Iroquois; a team that they defeated last season in the same game 51-0.
