A family who lost their home to a massive fire Friday night in Leitchfield has issued a plea for the return of a family pet.

Haley Snell, whose family — including two young girls — lost everything they own in a fire at their residence on the corner of Alexander Drive and Embry Villa Road, posted on social media a request for help finding one of the family’s dogs, Sophie.

Believing Sophie perished in the fire, family members searched through the rubble of the burned home, but did not locate the pet’s remains, Snell said.

“I’m not the type to ask for help but I need her back, my girls need her back. She is solid white with slightly tan ears, approximately 10 pounds,” Snell wrote in a Facebook post. “It’s not unusual for her to run off and explore. I am happy to offer a cash reward to whoever finds her.”

If anyone spots Sophie, call 270-999-1888.

Since the devastating fire, the Grayson County community has responded with offers of assistance of all kind, generosity that is not lost on the family.

“… I want to thank everyone for what they have done for my family,” Snell said. “I cannot express how grateful we are. I truly do not know what we would do without our family, friends, and community.”
