Pedestrian killed after truck parked on roadway is struck

A pedestrian has been killed after a parked vehicle was struck on a major roadway.

Kentucky State Police responded to the incident Saturday evening at approximately 7:30 on Greensburg Road (Hwy 61) in Adair County.

According to state police, the investigation showed that a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 truck was parked, facing south, in the northbound lane of Greensburg Road. A pedestrian, 54-year-old Chad Pegg, of Greensburg, was standing near the front of the truck when a northbound 2010 Ford Edge, being driven by 74-year-old Norma Shirley, of Columbia, collided with the Chevy and Pegg.

Pegg was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Adair County Coroner’s Office.

A man inside the Chevy truck, 36-year-old Samuel Derossett, of Columbia, was transported to University of Kentucky Medical Center with serious injuries. Shirley was transported to University of Louisville Hospital, also with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by Sr. Trooper Dean Lunz.
