The four people who perished in a massive fire in Carrollton have been identified.

The two-story residential fire broke Thursday morning at approximately 6:00 at 209 5th Street. The fire caused the home to collapse, making recovering and identifying the bodies a difficult task, as the final of the fourth victims was recovered on Saturday.

The decedents were identified by the Carroll County Coroner’s Office as 42-year-old Jessica Sellers and her children, 10-year-old Deacon Sellers, 18-year-old Coleton Sellers and 25-year-old Emilee Boswell.

A four-year-old child was pulled from the blaze by Carrollton officers who arrived first on the scene and found the residence fully engulfed in flames. The child had collapsed near the back door of the home.

“The officers were able to extract one juvenile female, approximately 3 years old (now identified as 4-years-old), from the residence,” Carrollton PD Public Affairs Officer Dave Roberts said in a media briefing on the fire. “That female was taken to the Carroll County Memorial Hospital and has since been transferred to UofL.”

It’s unclear how the fire started.

The Carrollton Police Department, Kentucky State Police and state Fire Marshal’s Office are leading the investigation.
