Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal fire near Morehead.
The Morehead Fire Department responded to the blaze at approximately 1:20 Friday morning at 2270 Christy Creek Road. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a residence fully engulfed in flames, according to state police.
Once the fire was extinguished, 62-year-old Stanley R. Erwin was found deceased inside the home. Erwin’s wife and another family member made it out of the residence safely.
The cause of the fire has not been established.
The investigation is ongoing and being led by Kentucky State Police arson investigators and the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
