Passenger injured when truck strikes culvert while avoiding stopped vehicle on Shrewsbury Rd.

A man was injured after a truck entered a ditch as the driver avoided a stopped vehicle on Shrewsbury Road (Hwy 187).

Leitchfield Police Department Officers Chuck Hoover, Brian Jennings and Erik Franklin, the Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded at 5:10 p.m. on Wednesday to the crash in the 100 block of Shrewsbury Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found that a Chevrolet 2500 truck pulling a trailer was traveling north on Shrewsbury Road when the driver, from Grayson County, swerved into a ditch to avoid hitting a truck stopped in the roadway. The truck came to a stop after hitting a culvert.

A male passenger in the Chevy, also from Grayson County and who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center. The driver was not injured.
