James Russell Willis, age 91, of Leitchfield, KY, went to be with the Lord on Thursday,
(September 26, 2024) at his home. He was born on September 10, 1933 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Jack and Bertie Hack Willis.

Russell was a farmer, who liked to fish, and talk on the phone. He loved car auctions and going to flea markets. He was a big family man and enjoyed being with all his children. He married Billie Jean on October 25, 1965, and with this union they formed a large and loving family until her death in 2022. Russell loved being with his church family. He has been a member of Leitchfield First General Baptist Church for over 58 years.

He is survived by his children, Nancy Cain (Sam) of Clarkson, Jo Avery (Luke) of Canmer,
Debbie Jo Terry of Shrewsbury, Mary Jane Hileman of Ohio, and Mark Willis (Holly) of
Leitchfield; two brothers, Roy and Vernie Willis; grandchildren, Jason Willis, Brian Willis,
Shane Terry, Andy Cain, Matthew Hileman, Ryan Lancaster, Lana Lancaster, Molly Terry
(Johnny), Donnie Stevenson, Jr., Lauren Englant (Danny), BonniJill Avery, Dale Avery, and
Melissa Jo Terry; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean White Willis; one son,
James Russell “Poncho” Willis, Jr.; one daughter, Lillian Regina “Jeanie” Decker; two
grandchildren, Danielle and Jeremiah; and six brothers, Mearl, Raymond, Earl, Charles, Jack,
and Roger Willis.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, (September 30, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral
Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Wayne Clemons along with Bro. Buddy Brooks will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and
from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
