Body of juvenile recovered from Barren River

The body of a teenager has been recovered from Barren River in Bowling Green.

The teenager’s body was recovered from the lake on Sunday afternoon, according to Warren County Emergency Management. The 17-year-old male on Friday afternoon at around 4:00 went under the water while attempting to swim across the lake to friends, according to the Bowling Green Daily News. He failed to resurface.

The teenager had been swimming near the River Street bridge.

The recovery effort involved multiple agencies, including Kentucky Fish & Wildlife, the Bowling Green and Richardsville Fire Departments, Barren and Hart County Rescue Teams, Campbellsville Fire & Rescue, Hardin and Hart County Emergency Management, Bowling Green Police Department, and Bowling Green Municipal Utilities safety officials.
