A teenage mother in Hopkins County has been jailed following her toddler testing positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.

The Madisonville Police Department arrested 19-year-old Florence S. Carner on Tuesday and charged her with endangering the welfare of a minor and unlawful transaction with a minor (illegal controlled substance).

The arrest comes after her 23-month-old toddler tested positive for the two drugs, according to a report by WFIE.com. The suspect told police she did not know how the child came into contact with the drugs but said their residence is frequented by drug users.

The investigation further discovered that Carner had regularly provided a 12-year-old child with methamphetamine over the last month.

The drug testing was done as part of a Department for Community Based Services investigation.

Carner was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
