An Elizabethtown man arrested at least 17 times since 2003 is now wanted for allegedly setting a former girlfriend’s car on fire.

Anthony Wayne Whitmer, 42, is wanted for approaching an ex-girlfriend’s carport as she was speaking with someone and pouring gasoline on the top of her Lincoln MKX and setting it on fire, according to a report by The News-Enterprise.

The victim kept the fire from reaching her home by spraying the residence with water.

Law enforcement has issued a warrant for Whitmer’s arrest for first-degree arson. He’s expected to be given a $75,000 cash bond.

Whitmer, whose latest arrest was in June 2024 for felony wanton endangerment and first-degree criminal mischief, has been arrested four times on domestic violence charges, according to online records.

Since 2003, he’s been arrested twice for burglary, twice for robbery, and three times for DUI. Whitmer has also been arrested for trafficking in cocaine and marijuana (twice), resisting arrest, fleeing police on foot, third-degree terroristic threatening, and violating an EPO.
