Charlotte Brooks, age 81, of Leitchfield, passed away Saturday, (September 7, 2024) at University of Louisville Hospital. She was born on September 4, 1943 in Spring Lick, KY, the daughter of the late Obie and Berthel Boone Swift.

She retired as Senior Administrative Assistant at PCUSA after 25 years of service, and was the state clerk. She loved going to church and listening to gospel music. She enjoyed cooking and flowers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren. She graduated from Caneyville High School.

Charlotte married the love of her life; Ray Brooks, on October 27, 1961. For almost 63 years they raised a family and had a wonderful life together. She attended Harvest Baptist church in Louisville.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Brooks of Leitchfield; two sons, Kevin Brooks and Keith Brooks (Karen) all of Leitchfield; grandchildren, Tyler Brooks (Torie), Houston Brooks, Brennan Childress, Kennedy Childress, Grace Childress, Blake Childress, Brandon Brooks, (Kandace), Brittany Brooks, and Kaylee Brooks; great-grandchildren, Reagan Brooks, Ireland Brooks, Boston Brooks, and Christian Knight; brother, Phillip Swift (Faye) of Hopkinsville; sister-in-law, Patsy Swift of Leitchfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert and Rupert Swift.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, (September 10, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Buddy Brooks will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
