Staff member with Clay Co. Schools holds student at gunpoint in high school parking lot

A staff member with Clay County Public Schools has been jailed after holding a student at gunpoint in a school parking lot.

Christopher Collier, 31, of Manchester, a volunteer staff member, was arrested Thursday morning after the incident that took place on Wednesday in the parking lot of Clay County High School.

Collier, according to WKYT.com, entered the parking lot of the school and asked a student to get into his vehicle. When the student entered the vehicle, the suspect allegedly pulled a gun and pointed it at the student’s head. Collier is also accused of threatening to kill the student.

Clay County Public Schools Superintendent William Sexton issued the following statement on the incident:

“Under false pretenses, a voluntary staff member gained access to the parking lot with an alleged weapon and threatened a student. This is an isolated incident involving one student. The suspect has been arrested and a continuing investigation is ongoing.”

The superintendent further said the incident was a “domestic issue.”

Collier was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, unlawful possession of a weapon on school property, kidnapping (adult), third-degree criminal trespassing, and third-degree terroristic threatening.

He was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.
