A teenager has been arrested after allegedly stealing police gear from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office and listing the items for sale on social media.

Laurel County deputies arrested 18-year-old Connor Patterson, of London, on Tuesday and charged him with theft by unlawful taking (over $1,000, less than $10,000) and first-degree criminal mischief, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Patterson’s arrest came after he was accused of breaking into two cruisers parked near the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office and stealing a handheld radio and turnout gear.

He then tried to sale the items on Facebook.

“On Facebook where this individual actually took a picture of the stolen turnout gear, posted it on Facebook for sale. One of the deputies actually saw it and said, ‘Hey, that’s my stuff,’” Deputy Gilbert Acciardo told WKYT.com.

Patterson was lodged in Laurel County Corrections.
