A man has been charged with assault after attacking a woman with a baseball bat in a domestic violence incident.

The assault occurred on Wednesday evening, but police were not alerted until Thursday by Deaconess Henderson Hospital staff.

The investigation showed that 42-year-old Nicholas A. Delong, of Henderson, hit the victim in the head with a baseball bat, giving the woman a concussion, according to the Henderson Police Department.

Police then watched Delong’s home and executed a traffic stop in the 300 block of North Green Street when he left the residence.

Delong was arrested and charged with first-degree assault (domestic violence). He was also served with two warrants, one for a probation violation for a felony offense.

He was lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center on a $20,000 cash bond.
