A LaRue County man has died after a truck hit an embankment, causing the vehicle to flip.

The accident happened early Wednesday afternoon in the 7000 block of Bardstown Road (Hwy 31-E) between Hodgenville and New Haven, according to the LaRue County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon deputies arriving at the scene, they found a 2005 Dodge truck, being driven by 79-year-old Roger L. Kirby Sr., of Hodgenville, left the roadway and struck a “ditch/embankment” before flipping at least once.

Kirby was removed from the truck by LaRue County EMS, according to the sheriff’s office, and airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The LaRue County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
