A man has been found guilty of a murder committed over 10 years ago in Washington County.

Kentucky State Police said 43-year-old Jonathan D. Puckett was recently convicted of murdering 20-year-old Ray Pendygraft, of Springfield, in August 2014.

Puckett, who has previously lived in Greensburg and Lebanon, according to online records, was arrested on April 26, 2023, in Garland, Texas, by Kentucky State Police, Dallas Probation & Parole officers and the Garland Police Department.

Puckett was found guilty of murder, first-degree arson, tampering with physical evidence, and first-degree persistent felony offender and sentenced to life plus 20 years in prison, state police said.

Puckett’s conviction comes after the Washington County Sheriff’s Office discovered Pendygraft’s body in a burned 2009 Dodge Caliber at the Springfield water reservoir on August 1, 2014.
