A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening a “local judicial official” in Elizabethtown.

Elizabethtown Police Department Public Affairs Office Chris Denham said officers on Wednesday at approximately noon officers were notified that 37-year-old Kelron Decoteau, of Elk Horn (Taylor Co.), “made a threat against a local judicial official.”

“We immediately dedicated our full resources to locating and apprehending the suspect,” Denham said.

Police said, without offering details, that investigators recognized “a direct connection between this case and Elizabethtown Independent Schools, (and) we promptly informed the school district of the potential threat.”

Immediately after being notified of the threat, the school district enacted soft lockdown procedures. At no time was the safety of any student or staff member in jeopardy, according to Denham.

Decoteau was arrested by Kentucky State Police in Taylor County at approximately 3:00 p.m. and lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center where he’s been charged with intimidating a participant in the legal process and third-degree terroristic threatening.

The suspect will be transferred to the Hardin County Detention Center.
