An Ohio County middle school student is one of nine finalists for the inaugural “I Voted” sticker contest sponsored by the Kentucky secretary of state’s office.
Secretary of State Michael Adams announced the nine finalists earlier this week. All of the stickers were created by school age children during an event at the secretary of state’s booth at the Kentucky State Fair.
Adams narrowed the contest to three choices each from elementary, middle school and high school students, with Ohio County home-schooled student Eden Barksdale’s entry selected one of three middle school contenders.
Elementary school
- Cash Litzler, Flemingsburg Elementary School (Fleming Co.)
- Addy Wells, Jesse Stuart Elementary School (Hopkins Co.)
- Caroline “Farris” Renfro, Lexington Christian Academy (Fayette Co.)
Middle school
- Lillian Bonczkiewicz, Homeschool (Carlisle Co.)
- Eden Barksdale, Barksdale Home School (Ohio Co.)
- Ava Taylor, Faith Christian School, (Livingston Co.)
High school
- Ella Dollison, Trigg County High School
- Riley Taylor, Russell County High School
- Colin Harris, Lafayette High School (Fayette Co.)
“It’s never too soon for young Kentuckians to engage civically, and we’re glad to enlist our kids to design the ‘I Voted’ sticker, and to let Kentuckians decide which design will win,” Adams said.
Kentuckians can cast their ballot for their favorite sticker at the secretary of state’s booth at the Kentucky State Fair, which runs through August 25. The top vote getter’s design will be printed on stickers and sent to interested county clerks to provide to voters in November.
