An impaired western Kentucky woman has been jailed after boarding a school bus with a weapon.

The Princeton Police Department responded Tuesday morning to the 600 block of Fairview Church Road after 45-year-old Amanda Cansler, of Princeton, who was allegedly under the influence of an unknown substance, entered a school bus through the rear loading door and that was occupied by students and a driver, according to the West Kentucky Star.

When Cansler entered the bus, the driver placed himself between the suspect and the students, as she brandished a folding knife while on the bus.

Cansler then fled out the back of the bus. She was found by police hiding in a wooded area.

She was charged with public intoxication (excluding alcohol), menacing, disorderly conduct, and unlawful possession of a weapon on school property. Cansler was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
