A staff member at an Elizabethtown middle school has been arrested after allegedly arriving at school intoxicated.

Tamara E. Mouser, 49, of Bardstown, arrived on the campus of T.K. Stone Middle School, at 323 Morningside Drive, Tuesday at approximately 8:00 a.m. A school administrator then observed “a situation with a staff member” and notified the school resource officer (SRO) that Mouser may be intoxicated, according to an Elizabethtown Independent School District social media post.

The SRO, upon making contact with Mouser, determined she was likely under the influence of alcohol. The SRO then contacted the Elizabethtown Police Department. Officers arrived and arrested Mouser and charged her with public intoxication. She was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.

Mouser immediately resigned her position.

“Student safety was never in question” the district said about the incident. “… Because this is a personnel issue, the district is unable to share additional information at this time.”
