A Hopkins County couple is facing child abuse charges after police discovered their three-year-old daughter was only being fed milk.
The Madisonville Police Department on Saturday arrested 32-year-old Cody Z. Alfred and 32-year-old Jayda N. McDowell, both of Madisonville, at Madisonville Apartments and charged each with first-degree criminal abuse (victim under the age of 12).
The arrests stemmed from police discovering their three-year-old daughter had not transitioned to solid food and was only being given milk. The child’s teeth, police told news outlets, were covered in calcium deposits.
The couple is lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
