A man has been arrested on murder and other charges after running over a woman while stealing her vehicle.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident Saturday morning in Annville at a T-Mart convenience store.

The investigation showed that the victim, Tracy Clemmons, 52, of Jackson County, parked her truck outside the T-Mart and entered the store. At that time, 41-year-old Michael L. Edwards, of Manchester, entered her vehicle and began to leave the parking lot, according to a report by WYMT.com.

Clemmons then went outside and grabbed one of the truck’s door handles as Edwards was driving away. Clemmons was dragged by the truck before being run over.

She was transported to St. Joseph Hospital London where she died of her injuries.

Edwards was arrested by Jackson County deputies several hours later.

He was charged with murder, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, carjacking, fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and first-degree persistent felony offender.

Edwards is being held in the Jackson County Detention Center on a $1 million cash bond.
