Alvena Mercer Vincent, age 82, of Leitchfield, passed away Thursday, (August 8, 2024) at Jewish Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on February 1, 1942 in Hardinsburg, KY, the daughter of the late Wallace and Ima Blair Mercer.

She was a homemaker, who enjoyed decorating, painting, and building things. She loved to sew, tend to her rose bushes, listen to the old country music, and sing. Alvena also loved her cats, and thrift shopping. She was saved at the age of 71 at the Cub Run Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Ronnie Vincent, and Warren Vincent of McDaniels, Patricia Phelps (Lester) of Clarkson, Michelle Armstrong of Glendale, Laura Sims (Bruce) ofLeitchfield, Michael Vincent of Leitchfield, and Tammy Cox (Wayne) of Cecilia; two brothers, Ray Mercer of Clarkson and Russell Mercer of Leitchfield; two sisters, Louise Belcher of Virginia, and Linda Baxter of Clarkson; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a special longtime friend, Jerry Vincent.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her three sons, Jeffery, Wesley, and Troy Vincent; one brother, Wavie Mercer; and two sisters, Luvena McCombs and Lillian Spicer.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, (August 12, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Garry Watkins will be officiating. Burial will be in the Clarkson Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. on Monday until time of
services.
