The Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center (WKRBC) is hosting a blood drive in Leitchfield on Thursday.
WKRBC is based in Owensboro and is the “dedicated provider” of blood to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center and 10 other medical facilities and three Air Evac Lifeteams in western Kentucky, according to WKRBC’s Director of Communications, Development & Recruitment, Vicki Ellis.
The blood drive is scheduled for Thursday from noon until 4:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church’s Parish Hall at 109 West Walnut Street.
“WKRBC is the only blood center in the commonwealth that performs all FDA and state-mandated infectious disease testing in-house, which means; we do not have to wait for an out of state lab to release test results, we can distribute a unit of blood within 8 hours of collection if the situation warrants it,” Ellis told K105.
