Five people, including a small child, were injured in a t-bone crash on Mill Street.

Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. Robert Jackson and Officer Brian Jennings, Grayson County Sgt. Jordan Jones and Deputy Caleb Owens, the Leitchfield Fire Department, and EMS responded to the crash Friday afternoon at 4:35 at 1453 Mill Street.

According to police, the accident occurred when a Toyota Corolla, being driven by a Big Cifty woman, pulled into the path of Chevrolet truck as the Corolla was turning left into Abound Credit Union. The driver of the truck, a Caneyville man, took evasive action, according to witnesses, but struck the Toyota squarely on its passenger side doors.

A small child in the Corolla that was properly restrained, police said, suffered what appeared at the scene to be serious injuries. The child, while still in the car seat, was immediately transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center (OHTLMC) by EMS.

The driver of the Corolla, the child’s grandmother, also suffered injuries and was transported to OHTLM.

The driver of the truck along with two female passengers (all in their late teens or early 20s) were also transported by EMS to OHTLM.

The injured child was released from OHTLMC after spending Friday night in the hospital, according to police.
