Leitchfield man charged with attempted murder after shooting at female

A Leitchfield man has been charged with attempted murder (domestic violence) after being accused of shooting the driver’s side window of a vehicle containing a female.

Police arrested 58-year-old Guy M. Schmitzerle Wednesday evening after he allegedly shot into a vehicle containing a female with a shotgun at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The incident took place on Claggett Road.

The female left the area and traveled to the Leitchfield Police Department where she reported the shooting.

Police located and arrested Schmitzerle at the Claggett Road residence where the shooting took place.

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the incident is ongoing.

As K105 reported at the time of his arrest, Schmitzerle was jailed on October 3, 2020, after police found thousands of dollars’ worth of marijuana on his property.

He was arrested two other times in October 2020, according to online records, where he faced charges including, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), first-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal mischief, menacing, and second-degree disorderly conduct.
