Three people died, including two children, in a multi-vehicle accident on I-24 when a tractor-trailer failed to slow down in a construction zone in Livingston County.

Early Monday afternoon, Kentucky State Police responded to the crash near the 32-mile marker of westbound I-24.

State police said the investigation showed that a 2022 Kenworth tractor-trailer, being driven by 24-year-old Mansur Kholikov, of Brooklyn, New York, was traveling west on I-24 when traffic slowed in a construction zone at the Tennessee River Bridge.

For reasons still under investigation, the Kenworth failed to slow down and struck multiple vehicles, while causing secondary collisions involving five vehicles.

One vehicle burst into flames, according to state police. Three people in the vehicle, 68-year-old Saundra Dodd, of Evansville, Indiana, along with two children died at the scene.

Two occupants of other vehicles were airlifted to out of state hospitals, state police said. Several other crash victims were transported to local hospitals.

Kholikov was uninjured.

This collision remains under investigation by KSP Det. Nate Moore.
