1 killed, 1 missing, 1 airlifted after boats crash in Falls of Rough

One person has died and another is missing after two boats crashed in Falls of Rough.

The incident occurred Sunday morning at approximately 12:30 when a pontoon boat containing several people and a bass boat crashed on Rough River Lake in the Cave Creek area.

Killed in the accident was a male. A female was airlifted from the Rough River State Park Airport and a female was transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center, according to multiple law enforcement sources.

A male remains missing, as a search of Rough Rive Lake waters has been underway for several hours.

The injured, deceased and missing individuals were on the pontoon boat. No one in the bass boat suffered serious injuries.

Multiple first-responders have been on-scene for hours at the Cave Creek Boat Ramp, including the Falls of Rough Fire Department, Leitchfield Fire Department, Kentucky Fish & Wildlife, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Grayson County Coroner’s Office, Louisville Metro Police Dept. Underwater Search and Recovery, and Army Corps of Engineers, along with search and rescue teams from Barren and Hart counties, Grayson County Emergency Management, and emergency management personnel from multiple other counties, as well as the American Red Cross.

Kentucky Fish & Wildlife is leading the investigation.
