A grand jury declined to indict a man who fatally shot another driver in a road rage incident in Carroll County.

The incident occurred Saturday night, June 8, at approximately 7:00 when two motorists took exit 43 off I-71.

“One of the drivers involved in the incident was speaking with dispatch at that time. The caller advised that the other driver (Daniel Shouse, of Carrollton) was displaying a firearm,” state police said.

After the vehicles exited the interstate, state police said Shouse executed a U-turn and drove back to the other driver. Shouse was then fatally shot by the driver of the other vehicle, who police have not identified.

Shouse was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Carroll County Coroner’s Office.

Kentucky State Police said at the time that it appeared the person who shot Shouse was acting in self-defense.

The case was then presented to a Carroll County Grand Jury which returned a No True Bill.
