A western Kentucky woman has been charged in the overdose of her toddler after police found fentanyl in the home.

The Hopkinsville Police Department arrested 25-year-old Jasmine L. Bartolo after her 20-month-old child overdosed. The toddler was initially taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center on Sunday, according to police.

Life-saving measures were taken to save the child before the toddler was transported to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital “for more advanced care,” Hopkinsville police said.

Detectives then met with hospital personnel and, according to police, searched Bartolo’s residence where they located “a quantity of pills suspected to be fentanyl,” marijuana and a firearm.

Four other children were removed from the home.

Bartolo was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl), four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal abuse (victim under the age of 12), and possession of marijuana.

She was lodged in the Christian County Detention Center.
