An eastern Kentucky woman has been arrested on multiple felony charges after allegedly leaving her young daughter in a dog cage and strangling the child.
The Richmond Police Department on Sunday arrested 31-year-old Sheila Mann and charged her with first-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal abuse (victim under the age of 12), and third-degree terroristic threatening.
Mann’s 10-year-old daughter, according to WKYT.com, told police during a forensic interview that her mother strangled her, impairing her breathing, and threatened to cut her throat.
Mann additionally is accused of keeping her child in a dog cage for days at a time. She only let her daughter out of the cage to go to the bathroom.
Mann is being held in the Madison County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond.
