For the second time, a Brownsville man has been arrested after leaving small children home alone.

The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28-year-old Marquis L. Cornelius on Sunday after he left three children, ages four, two and one, home alone on Saturday, according to a report by WNKY.com.

Police were notified by a neighbor that the children were home alone, in the 100 block of Morgantown Road, Saturday night at approximately 11:20. The neighbor told police the children had eaten raw chicken while left alone.

Police said the children were “in extreme danger due to not being able to care for themselves nor each other,” WNKY.com reports.

Cornelius was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, second-degree wanton endangerment and abandonment of a minor. He was lodged in the Hart County Jail but is no longer listed as an inmate.

In February 2018, Cornelius was arrested in Bowling Green for leaving an eight-week-old baby and one-year-old boy home alone at a Church Street apartment, according to the Bowling Green Daily News.

In that case, when police arrived at the apartment, they heard the one-year-old “heavily crying, sweating profusely and in obvious distress,” the newspaper reports. Police forced entry into the home and then found the eight-month-old.

Cornelius had left the children home alone so he could go to work.

He was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal abuse (victims under the age of 12).

(Note: In his latest arrest, Cornelius’ first name is spelled Marquise. In his arrest in 2014, Cornelius’ first name was spelled Marquis)
