A suspect in the shooting of a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper has been arrested in Caldwell County.

Kentucky State Police said Blaze Rucker, 29, was an occupant in a vehicle along with another male when, on Friday, a Tennessee trooper conducted a traffic stop on I-40 in Putnam County near the Burgess Falls exit. During the stop, Trooper Adam Cothron was shot, with the vehicle then fleeing the scene.

Cothron was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he’s listed in stable condition, according to state police.

Sunday morning at approximately 3:15, Kentucky State Police arrested Rucker at a residence in Princeton.

KSP was assisted in the investigation by the ATF, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Hopkinsville Police Department.
