A child was airlifted after being struck in the head by a jet ski at Nolin River Lake.

The Wax Fire Department, EMS and a special deputy with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office were initially dispatched Sunday afternoon at 1:00 to the 300 block of Clark Lane where the 12-year-old boy was taken by private means to meet first responders.

The boy, who suffered a major head wound in the accident and was unresponsive but breathing, was then transported by private means to St. Benedict Catholic Church, in the 6800 block of Wax Road, where first responders set up a landing zone for a medical helicopter.

The child was airlifted to a Louisville hospital. His current condition is not known.
