Grayson Co. School Board votes on medical cannabis usage on campus

The Grayson County Board of Education voted at Thursday night’s special called meeting on whether to allow the use of medical cannabis on school property.

In a unanimous vote, the board voted to not allow medical cannabis usage on campus.

Medical cannabis becomes legal in Kentucky on January 1, 2025.

According to brief discussion prior to the vote, it was revealed that school nurses in the district did not want medical cannabis usage to be allowed on campus.

In other business, board attorney David Vickery spent nearly an hour reviewing several new education laws passed by the General Assembly during its latest session.

On Thursday night, K105 reported that the board granted school employees an additional two-percent raise, giving teachers their desired five-percent raise this year.
