Fireworks and fiddles dominate fun weekend in Leitchfield

Fireworks, fiddles and an abundance of family fun will be offered this weekend on and around the Leitchfield Town Square.

A city-sponsored fireworks show highlights Friday’s events, and a concert following Saturday’s Twin Lakes National Fiddler Championship will feature Hall of Fame fiddle player and Grayson Co. native Jimmy Mattingly, mandolinist and Leitchfield native Danny Roberts and the renown Gary “Biscuit” Davis & the Smokey Mt. Biscuit Co.

Below is a rundown of events:

Friday

4:00 p.m. — Loud Stereo Contest at Veteran’s Memorial Par.

5:00 p.m. — Rod Run & Cruise-In on the Leitchfield Town Square.

6:00 p.m. — Grayson County Bluegrass Opry at the old judicial building on East White Oak Street.

Dusk — A fireworks show sponsored by the city of Leitchfield will begin at dusk. The fireworks will be set off at the water tower behind Grayson Co. Middle School.

8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. — The Leitchfield Aquatic Center will be open to view fireworks and for a night swim. The cost is $5. Those with season passes may enter at no charge.

Saturday

6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Pancake Breakfast at Fire Station No. 1 on South Main Street

8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Antique Car-Truck-Rat Rod-Tractor & Bike Show on the Leitchfield Town Square.

9:00 a.m. The 13th Annual Twin Lakes National Fiddle Championship on the Leitchfield Town Square.

11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Free tours will be offered of the Jack Thomas House and the Buchanan Log Cabin. The historic structures are at the intersection of East Main Street and South Clinton Street.

2:00 p.m. to Dusk – Free children’s activities on the Leitchfield Town Square.

(Approx.) 8:00 p.m. — Free concert featuring Jimmy Mattingly, Danny Roberts, Gary “Biscuit” Davis and the Smokey Mt. Biscuit Co.

There will be multiple food and other vendors on and around the town square on both Friday and Saturday.
