A man was killed and suspect arrested after a deadly game between friends.

The incident occurred Thursday night at approximately 7:00 Carriewood Drive in Ceclia, according to a report by The News-Enterprise. When Hardin County deputies arrived at the scene, they found that 24-year-old Abraham H. Valancia, of Cecilia, had died after being struck by a truck being driven by 33-year-old Jose W. Villalobos, of Cecilia.

Witnesses told police that Valancia and some friends had been drinking after work. Valancia sat under a tree when Villalobos, arriving at the residence after work, drove toward Valancia in a game of “chicken,” when he pressed on the gas instead of the brake.

The truck struck and killed Valancia.

“They were horsing around playing chicken and instead of hitting the brake, he hit the gas. They were good friends. The suspect was cooperative,” Hardin County Chief Deputy David Lee told The News-Enterprise.

Villalobos was arrested and charged with reckless homicide, a class D felony, and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond.
