Police seized over 2,000 fentanyl pills while investigating a drug trafficking suspect in Logan County.

The Bowling Green – Warren County Drug Task Force, South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force and Kentucky State Police executed a search warrant on Wednesday afternoon in the 1100 block of Proctor Mill Drive, between Auburn and Russellville, as part of a drug trafficking investigation that resulted in the seizure of over 2,000 fentanyl tablets, according to police.

Forced entry was made into the home, authorities said, “as the accused was flushing fentanyl in order to destroy evidence.”

During a search of the home, law enforcement located 82 fentanyl pills, over 10 pounds of marijuana, two handguns, a money counter, and $23,713 in cash.

Police arrested 20-year-old Timothy W. Smotherman Jr., of Auburn, and charged him with trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl), trafficking in marijuana, first-degree wanton endangerment, unlawful transaction with a minor (illegal controlled substance, victim under 18), unlawful transaction with a minor (illegal controlled substance with physical injury), and tampering with physical evidence.

He was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center on two bonds totaling $125,000.
