Two firefighters have been arrested in Grant County for intentionally setting fire to a church.

Brendan Gibson, 24, of Falmouth, and Robert J. Hughes, 23, of Williamstown, were charged with second-degree arson after admitting to setting fire to Shiloh Full Gospel Church in Corinth, according to WCPO.com.

Both men are members of the Corinth Fire Department.

The fire occurred Monday morning at approximately 5:30. The suspects were among the first to respond at the scene.

Soon after firefighters arrived at the church, Kentucky State Police and the ATF were requested to investigate the blaze. The investigation led police to question Gibson and Hughes, who admitted they started the fire.

WCPO.com reports that Kentucky State Police said there are at least three fires in Grant County over the last month that are currently under investigation.

The suspects were lodged in the Grant County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bonds. Only Hughes remains incarcerated.
