A tractor-trailer accident shut down a section of the Western Kentucky Parkway on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 5:10 Tuesday afternoon, as extremely heavy rain fell in the area, when a semi jack-knifed at the 110.5-mile marker of the westbound parkway between Clarkson and Leitchfield.

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, including Sgts. Jason Luedke and Erik Franklin and Deputy Andy Cast, the Leitchfield and Clarkson Fire Departments and Grayson County Emergency Management responded to the accident, which happened when the semi hydroplaned on the wet roadway.

The semi, owned by Bacon by Gosh Inc. out of Henry, Tennessee, was empty at the time of the accident.

Westbound parkway motorists were rerouted around the accident at the Clarkson exit (Exit 112).

The truck was removed from the parkway and normal traffic flow restored at 6:30 Tuesday evening.

There were no injuries reported.
