Leitchfield felon on the run after vicious assault with metal pipe at local factory

A Leitchfield man with a long history of drug and other arrests is wanted by police for a vicious assault at a local factory.

Chad Matthew Dennis, 48, a felon, is wanted in connection to a “felony assault” that occurred at Plastikon in Leitchfield on May 6, according to Leitchfield police.

The investigation showed that the victim was being dropped off at work when a male, identified as Dennis, “abruptly pulled up behind the victim in a bluish-green pick up. According to
witness statements and surveillance video, Dennis hurriedly exited his pickup and rushed toward the victim from behind … (and) struck the victim in the back of the head with what witnesses described as a 2-3 foot long metal pipe,” Leitchfield PD Det. Sgt. Ian Renfrow said.

The victim was treated for injuries at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center.

“Dennis has not been located at this time but is believed to still be in the area,” according to Renfrow.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest for second-degree assault, a class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Anyone with information on Dennis’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Leitchfield Police Department at 270-259-3850 or call 911.

Dennis, according to online records, has been arrested at least 19 times since 2010 on a variety of charges in several different counties, including multiple drug trafficking counts (methamphetamine, legend drugs, manufacturing methamphetamine, tampering with physical evidence, illegal possession of a legend drug, controlled substance – endangering the welfare of a minor, promoting contraband, persistent felony offender, theft by unlawful taking, and non-payment of fines.
