A preacher who recently resigned as executive pastor at a Kentucky megachurch has been arrested after admitting to having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office announced on Tuesday that 47-year-old Zachary King, of Lexington, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy, and procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means.
King was executive pastor at LexCity Church when he had a sexual relationship with the teenager between January 2023 and April 2024. He admitted to the allegations under questioning by police.
He was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond.
King, who resigned his position after being confronted about his behavior by parishioners, admitted to having sex with the girl at her home, his home, his car, and at the church.
The church has over 4,500 Facebook followers. At one time, the church boasted 5,000 members, according to The Roys Report.com.
The case was investigated by the Lexington Police Department and the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office Division of Criminal Investigations (DCI) unit.
Anyone with information regarding additional criminal conduct by King is encouraged to contact the DCI Hotline at 866-524-3672 or DCIForce@ky.gov.
