A reward is being offered for information on the location of an eastern Kentucky woman suffering from multiple medical conditions after she was checked out of a nursing home against medical advice.

Frances Byrd, 72, was checked out of a Vanceburg nursing home by her daughter against medical advice, according to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office. When the sheriff’s office was notified by Byrd’s son on June 13 that he could not reach his mother, Byrd’s daughter told police that her mother, who suffers from dementia and schizophrenia, left her residence on the evening of June 11 and did not return.

The daughter said Byrd got into a “newer white passenger car with tinted windows,” according to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office. Byrd left the home, the daughter told police, “in the later hours of the evening.”

The daughter further told investigators that Byrd was “not in her right mind when she left.”

She was last seen wearing blue sweatpants, a blue sweatshirt and glasses. Byrd stands five feet, three inches tall and weighs about 240 pounds. She has gray/white hair.

In addition to dementia and schizophrenia, Byrd suffers from depression and muscle weakness — leaving her unable to walk more than 50 feet unassisted — and is prescribed several medications.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the location of Frances Byrd. Anyone with information is asked to contact Carter County 911 at 606-474-5753, or your local law enforcement.
