Grayson County Alliance (GCA) announced that the organization received a significant grant from the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels (HOKC).

The grant, in the amount of $9,200, will be used to purchase and install a sidewalk safety railing for the walkway to a new GCA classroom, according to GCS Executive Director Debbie Childress.

“The HOKC Good Works grant continues to make a huge impact at GCA. The support this year will assure we have safe access from the outside of our building to our new classroom area,” Childress said.

GCA has been serving lower income families for 24 years. Their current programing includes basic food support, free tax filing, resource referrals, and financial literacy education. The Alliance depends on hundreds of volunteers each year to fulfill their mission of feeding, teaching, and empowering families. You can learn more about the Alliance at gc-alliance.com.

HOKC awarded $2.5 million in grants this year, according to Childress, supporting 325 non-profits and impacting more than 3.9 million Kentuckians.

“Grants are made possible through donations from Kentucky Colonels throughout the commonwealth and around the world who choose to exercise the honor of being named a Kentucky Colonel in a meaningful way,” Childress said.
