Grayson County Schools (GCS) has been awarded a $14,000 grant by the WHAS Crusade for Children.

The funding will provide specialized hearing and vision equipment for preschool screenings, according to GCS.

“The Crusade for Children has been a strong supporter of the district’s work with students with disabilities, awarding over $1 million in grant funding to Grayson County through the years,” GCS said in a press release.

These funds have provided a variety of additional equipment and opportunities beyond regular programs.

“Over the past few years, funds have provided additional classroom technology, playground communication boards at elementary schools, and most recently, programming to enhance social-emotional development and skills, specifically for students on the autism spectrum,” GCS stated.

“We are grateful to the Crusade for Children for granting this funding for our students,” Special Education Director Tracie Johnston said. “Our thanks also go to the many fire departments and volunteers whose tireless efforts raise these funds each year for our kids and our community.”
